The Cathedral of Madeleine is a genuine architectural masterpiece. This is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City and was built between 1900 and 1909. The architects Carl M. Neuhausen and Bernard O. Mecklenburg constructed it in the French Gothic style, with incredible stained glass windows, elaborate carvings, and soaring spires.
The glorious rose window, made up of over 3,000 individual pieces of glass, is one of the Cathedral's most outstanding highlights. The window displays images from the Book of Revelation and is a stunning picture of New Jerusalem.
The cathedral houses a phenomenal pipe organ, one of western United States's largest pipe organs. The organ has about 3,000 pipes and is supposed to fill the entire space of the Cathedral with its delightful sound. The spectacular beauty and exquisite design of the cathedral continues to enthrall and inspire tourists from all over the world.
