El Paseo is a historically significant shopping and dining destination in downtown Santa Barbara's center. El Paseo was constructed as the city's first shopping facility in 1922. The complex was designed to resemble a traditional Spanish marketplace and features gorgeous tiling, fountains, and a central courtyard. Today, El Paseo is a designated historic landmark and one of the most pleasant and picturesque retail and dining districts in Santa Barbara.

El Paseo is lined with boutique and artisanal shops selling everything from jewelry and clothing to home decor and gourmet cuisine.


El Paseo's central courtyard is visually appealing, surrounded by colorful Spanish-style buildings and featuring a stunning fountain. The courtyard is a picturesque setting for dining, shopping, and socializing and is a popular gathering place for locals and visitors. El Paseo is home to various notable and distinctive businesses that are worth visiting. Such as La Arcada Bistro. This cozy French bistro is situated in a picturesque alley just off the courtyard of El Paseo.
