Solvang

Solvang, a small town in the Santa Ynez Valley, is located about 35 miles northwest of Santa Barbara. The town's distinctive Danish architecture, cuisine, and culture date back to 1911, when a group of Danish immigrants founded it. The name 'Solvang' translates to 'sunny field' in Danish.

Solvang is a famous place for tourists, especially those who want to feel like they are in Denmark while they are in California. The town is close to the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway and is easy to get to by car. Solvang is also a short drive from wineries, hiking trails, and the Chumash Casino Resort, all of which are famous places in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Visit the Old Danish Mill: This windmill was constructed in 1936 and now houses four stories worth of displays about Danish history and culture. The view of Solvang from the top of the windmill is worth the climb.
