Parc de l'Orangerie

The Orangerie Park, also known as Parc de l'Orangerie, is the oldest and largest park in Strasbourg. It is situated in the middle of the city and covers 26 hectares or 64 acres. It features flower-lined lawns, a lake, a pavilion, a stork sanctuary, and other activities that families can enjoy.

THINGS TO DO AT PARC DE L'ORANGERIE:

  • Escape the ordinary of the cosmopolitan life here:

Most visitors take advantage of the peaceful respite from shopping and sightseeing provided by the tree-lined pathways, swans on the lake, resident storks, statues, waterfalls, and fountains. This allows visitors to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

  • Enjoy the scenery while engaging in activities that bring you into closer contact with the natural world:

You can admire the Josephine Pavilion, a charming garden lodge built in 1804 for Empress Josephine, who was Napoleon Bonaparte's wife. You can see the pavilion if you rent a rowboat and paddle around the lake.

The 'Pavillon Joséphine' (also known as the 'Joséphine Lodge') plays host to a plethora of events and exhibitions.

  • Let the kids have all the fun:

Children adore the park's playgrounds, classic car track, petting zoo, lake, miniature farm, and vintage car circuit. Be sure to bring them along to take advantage of the vast greenery and kid-friendly amenities.

The bowling alley and the terrace it features broaden the range of opportunities for recreational pursuits.

  • Treat your tastebuds after an outdoorsy day:

The Buerehiesel, housed in a lovely timber-framed building, will welcome you with its lovely ambiance and tasty food to complete the tour on a sweet and filling note. Snack on some delicacies after a day out exploring the area.

  • Take note of the unique birds that wonder about here, which also serves as the emblem of Alsace:

Observe a species of bird that was once in danger of becoming extinct but has since been successfully reintroduced thanks to the efforts of this park. The stork, which was once in risk of becoming extinct, can now be seen on the face of the Earth. Since 1971, there have been more than eight hundred young storks born.
